Why we choose Rick Steves' tours

When planning our trip to Italy, we knew we wanted to make the most our time abroad, and see (and taste) as much as possible. That's why we decided to participate in a Rick Steves' tour.

First, we were attracted by the small group size, which allowed for more intimate and personalized experiences. We also appreciated the fact that the tour focused on cultural immersion and authentic experiences, rather than checking off tourist hotspots.

Second, we were impressed by the expertise and knowledge of our tour guides. They were passionate and provided historical context throughout the trip we wouldn't have otherwise gotten. This added an extra layer of depth and richness to our travels.

For us, participating in a Rick Steves' tour was the best decision for part of our Italian honeymoon. It allowed us to see and experience so much more than we could have on our own. For anyone not sure, take this as your sign - it is well worth the investment!

"Before this trip, I'd never had tiramisu I enjoyed. That changed in Florence after our cooking lesson at in Tavola. We've since made the recipe many times for friends and family." - Hannah

Hannah & Mario

Ciao! We're Hannah & Mario, newlyweds from beautiful British Columbia, Canada. We recently tied the knot in May 2022, and embarked on our month long honeymoon in Italy - our dream destination, and arguably the most romantic and delicious destination in the world. Originally booked on to go in April 2020, our September 2022 date did not disappoint. From the historic streets of Rome to the beautiful canals of Venice, we found ourselves completely immersed in Italian culture thanks to our tour leader, Fotios, and many local guides.

This trip was filled with many bucket list experiences, such as:

  • Taking a gondola ride on the  Canale Grande
  • Touring the Medici Chapel
  • Wine tasting in Umbria
  • Taking in the grandeur of the  Colosseum, Roman Forum and Vatican
  • Indulging in an abundance of gelato

As a newlywed couple, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect honeymoon. The tour enabled us to see all the major attractions while creating memories that are sure to last a lifetime.

After taking in all the sites, saying goodbye to our fellow tour members, and tens of thousands of steps later, we were off for the on our own to end our trip on the stunning Amalfi Coast.

Arrivederci, Rick Steves! Until our next tour...

Pro travel tip: Invest in a really good pair walking shoes - and bring two pairs in case one gets wet or soiled over the course of the trip. We highly recommend the Ecco Soft 7 for comfort and style.
